The only feedback that counts is money
A hundred people saying 'great idea, I'd definitely buy that' is worth less than one person who actually pulls out a card. Enthusiasm is free; money is proof.
The feedback that's easiest to get is the least reliable. Friends, family, and survey-takers all mislead us — kindly, and for free — because agreeing costs them nothing.
Willingness to pay is the only feedback that can't lie. A verified card or a real preorder is worth more than a thousand 'yes, I'd totally use that,' because saying yes costs nothing while paying costs something real.
Free interest and a paid transaction sit at opposite ends of a trust scale. A 'like,' a 'maybe,' a 'sounds great' — all cost the giver nothing, so they prove nothing. The moment money changes hands, you've crossed from opinion into evidence.
Founder Nick Swinmurn didn't survey people on whether they'd buy shoes online, unseen. He photographed shoes in local stores, posted them, and when an order came he bought the pair at retail and shipped it himself — losing money on every hand-made sale.

The honest note: it worked because he was testing demand, not profit. A manual, money-losing test is fine for proof — but it is not yet a business model.
Over-weighting flattering feedback. The people closest to you give the least reliable signal — they don't want to hurt you, and agreeing costs them nothing. Never mistake their kindness for market proof.
Sort your evidence so far into two columns: things people SAID, and things people PAID for. If the 'paid' column is empty, you have interest, not demand.
Trust money, not mouths. Before you commit real savings, get at least one real customer to commit real cash — because a single paid order outweighs a stadium full of applause.
Ask one interested person to actually buy — a deposit, a preorder, a small real payment — this week. Their answer, yes or no, is worth more than every compliment you've collected.
